Oh là là, I just fell in love with this picture book! It is called "Petit Shoe de Boutville" and was written by Krystel Abimeri, originally from Beirut and living in the DC area. Petit Shoe belongs to a little girl named Lala who loses him in a field, so he decides to set out in search of a new home. On her journey, she encounters a ragtag bunch of endearing characters that have also been lost, forgotten, or cast aside, including the teacup, "La Comtesse de Kahwa", Lumi Abajour the lamp, and my favorite, Ray le Peigne, a doll's comb who has lost his teeth and can no longer give his little clients their belles coiffures. The new friends are determined to find someone to love them. The story reads (written in French) like a fairytale, with whimsy and appealing rhymes. It is marvelously illustrated by Joelle Achkar. We only have a few copies - -don't miss out on this treasure of a book!
