Two Unforgettable Evenings in the Magical Presence of Alain Mabanckou!

What an incredible visit from the amazing award-winning novelist, essayist, poet and academic Alain Mabanckou!On Wednesday evening the French Embassy showed the film “Noirs en France “ - a powerful documentary by Alain Mabanckou and Director Aurelie Perrault about what it means to be Black in France.The film interviews people with vastly different lives who recount their common experiences with racism. The participants include celebrities like rapper Soprano, journalist Karine Baste and tennis legend Yannick Noah—as well as private citizens: a home health aide, a high school student, a dancer. French Book Fair Season is in full swing!

Bringing the French bookstore to our local schools through French Book Fairs are some of the ways we support schools and the French and Francophone community of Washington.Today and yesterday we came to My French Classes and l’Enfant Montessori.Next week we will be at @rochambeaufrenchschool and @mcps_md Sligo Creek ESWe also do virtual and in-store book fairs and have welcomed several families from @mcps_md Maryvale ES this past week!Thank you to our school partners for inviting us and helping to spread the word to your community about their local, indie French bookstore!It is always a pleasure to see you, merci et bonnes fêtes!
