Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Publié par Jennifer Fulton le

In honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday we pulled together some titles that illuminate the history and legacy of racism in America. From a biography of Dr. King in Manga format to Jesmyn Ward’s Le Chant des Revenants (Sing, Unburied, Sing) a beautiful novel that explores the legacy of slavery across three generations of a Mississippi family, we hope you find a story that helps you feel a connection with the great man and the injustices lived by Black Americans that he so bravely fought to correct.

A window into the childhood that formed the future intellectual, feminist and French national treasure.

Publié par Jennifer Fulton le

Les Inséparables by Simone de Beauvoir. This is the novel Simone de Beauvoir wrote in 1954 but was never publisher during her lifetime. Essentially autobiographical, it is story of Simone's friendship with her school friend Zaza (Sylvie and Andree in the book) from around age 10 through early adulthood.I am loving de Beauvoir's simple, thoughtful writing about her family, teachers, and the relationships and experiences that shaped her thinking on religion, identity, men and women.A window into the childhood that formed the future intellectual, feminist and French national treasure.Fantastic reading!
