BIO

Leigh is a Mom and a Middle School Teacher of French. She loves to entertain family and friends, and prepare daily dishes for her husband and daughter.

Leigh’s meals are influenced by her mom’s love of cooking. Leigh also creates recipes based on her experiences of studying in the south of France. She often uses food to provide authentic experiences for her students as well.

The book gives a description of Avignon, France, including the food, signature attractions, and scenery. French language is peppered throughout the story in a way that a non-French speaker can understand through context clues. The story touches on the theme of patience, love, and resilience.

Once Georgette feels better, she realizes that sometimes wonderful things can come from unfortunate circumstances. The book includes a recipe for the tea that helps Georgette feel better.

Georgette and the Jellyfish, Adventures in Juan-les-Pins, is a children's book for ages 8-11 (and all Francophiles). Georgette is a young girl who travels to Juan-les-Pins* for her summer break. She plans to spend her vacation swimming in the Mediterranean sea, when she has an unexpected encounter with a jellyfish.

The book gives a description of signature attractions in and around Juan-les-Pins. French language and expressions are peppered throughout the story with translations. The story reinforces joy, courage, and overcoming fear.

Once Georgette feels confident enough to jump back in the water, she realizes that sometimes wonderful things can come from unfortunate circumstances. The book includes a recipe for the treat that helps Georgette affronter ses peurs (face her fears).
