Ahh, Septembre.

For Washingtonians, these are our glory days of summer.

With that radiant blue sky and balmy air without the slightest soupçon of the crispness to come, it's merveilleux.

If you haven't stopped into the store lately, now is a wonderful time to come.

We've got HUNDREDS of new books in stock, as well as some gorgeous new art for sale.

Come see it all this Labor Day weekend, which coincides with a yearly event we LOVE in Kensington: the Paint the Town Labor Day Show September 3-5!

Organized by the Montgomery Art Association it includes 175 artists whose work is for sale at the Town Hall.

Best of all: walk around Kensington on Saturday until 3pm and you'll see dozens of artists painting and drawing. They are participants in the annual Plein Air Competition!
Montgomery Art Association - Paint the Town
Adults and children complete paintings with a Kensington theme and submit them for prizes. The competition is open to all adults and children. It's free for kids under 18 and current MAA members; adults pay $10.

Any budding artistes out there? Why not set yourself up across the street and paint the French bookstore!

After get your French fix with us, make sure to stroll down Howard Avenue!  With three bookstores in town you can do all your literary shopping in one place.

Find antiques and more treasures at our friendly neighboring shops like M.O.B. vintage (collectibles, mid-century modern furniture and much more!), Pink Dot (chic clothes!). Then stop for a delicious lunch at Deli Club, and treat yourself to some Belgian pastries at Potomac Sweets around the corner!

If you can't make it to Kensington we are online 24/7 with most (but not all) of our stock on www.bonjourbooksdc.com.

[To our customers outside the DC area we hope you can visit in person one day!]

And we hope to see  you at one or all of the FOUR events coming up (scroll down to see them) in September.

A Bientôt!

Jennifer et Melissa
