Yellow Cab, is our newest absolute COUP de COEUR by Benoit Cohen

Finally posting some photos from the literary gathering last Saturday in NYC. What a fantastic event with a talented group of authors who are part of the @rencontre_auteurs_francophones network.
One the highlights of the trip was meeting guest of honor Benoit Cohen —award-winning French movie producer and author whose book, Yellow Cab, is our newest absolute COUP de COEUR.
In it he tells the story of becoming a NYC cab driver for six months. He documents every step of the experience: from the courses, tests, and long waiting period to the best part — picking up fares day and night and the fascinating swathe of humanity he meets in the back of his taxi.
By the end of this revealing inside view of the life of a NYC cab driver we are rooting for all of them in their daily grind. Did you know cabbies have to rent the cabs from a sketchy neighborhood in Queens for the day and make at least enough in fares to cover their costs and return the cab on time? Respect!
This book is FABULOUS. Also an easy read for French learners.
Next Benoit Cohen read: Mohamed, Ma Mère et Moi, a story based on real events in which the author’s mother takes in an Afghan refugee. Adapted into a film “Ma France à moi” and released in December 2023 starring Fany Ardant!
All of Benoit Cohen’s books delighted in NY and are now getting a following in Washington! They’ve been selling like “petits pains” all week long. Get your copy today—in original and English translation!
