A window into the childhood that formed the future intellectual, feminist and French national treasure.

Les Inséparables by Simone de Beauvoir.

This is the novel Simone de Beauvoir wrote in 1954 but was never publisher during her lifetime. Essentially autobiographical, it is story of Simone's friendship with her school friend Zaza (Sylvie and Andree in the book) from around age 10 through early adulthood.

I am loving de Beauvoir's simple, thoughtful writing about her family, teachers, and the relationships and experiences that shaped her thinking on religion, identity, men and women.

A window into the childhood that formed the future intellectual, feminist and French national treasure.

Fantastic reading!
